User upgrading
If you
purchase a ROM from us to upgrade from a version less than 10.14 to a
newer version you will need to set Calibration offset 17 to a value of
8. This will correct the charge current scaling factor within Pro-Trak to
the older value used by earlier versions.
If Calibration offset 17 is not set to 8 then the charge current will be
incorrect (normally lower than indicated on Pro-Trak) and charge capacities
of > 5000mA will be recorded.
Pro-Traks that are returned to us for upgrade have the charge calibrated for the higher charge current (12 amp) and Calibration offset 17 with have a value of 10.
This facility was included to allow overseas customers to upgrade from a version less that 10.14 to a newer version without the expense of returning the unit to us for upgrade.
Setting Calibration offset 17
Scroll down to Setup and press 0
Scroll down to Set Cal Figures and press 0
Scroll to offset 17 and enter the value required.
Press key 7 to exit.
Upgrading from an earlier version
Most units can be upgraded by the user following the information below.
The cost of the ROM for the user to carry out the upgrade is £31.73 (pounds Sterling)
If the unit has to be returned the cost is £58.22 (pounds Sterling) but it does depend on the age of the unit.

| Please find attached photo
showing the track break and the link you have to fit. Use a piece of
capacitor lead ( motor capacitors ) to make the link or a piece of
resistor lead. Looking from the top of the board the link and the break are located to the left of the ROM next to the nylon spacer. The photo shows the bottom of the printed circuit board. As you move the printed circuit to make the modifications the cable between the main printed circuit board and the fan printed circuit board may become unplugged. Make sure this cable is connected before you switch on!! Hold down the # key while switching on to clear all the old data. Re-enter the calibration figures from the test sheet received when the unit was new. Note: both the old ROM and the new rom will work after you make the changes. ROM version 10.82 allows the charge current to be set to 0.50 amp, however older Pro-Traks can not achieve this low current without changing a devise within the unit (unit would have to be returned to Pro-Trak). If the current is set to 0.50 amps on an old Pro-Trak, charging will abort after 10 seconds and give a message to check the external fuse. |
The following was added to version 10.11 on 30th April
Version 10.12 ( 30th April 2002)
We have been asked by customers to allow
Average 1 to be programmable over the users selected
time, this was previously fixed at 120 seconds. We have now included a menu that
allows the user
to set the time average 1 is calculated over. This time can now be set by the
user to a value between 1
minute and 9 minutes in 1 minute steps. We have also made Pro-Trak record
the real time voltage
at the time set for average 1 time.
If Average 1 time is set to 5 minutes, average voltage 1 is between the
start of discharge and 5
minutes. At the 5 minute time the actual voltage of the pack is recorded.
This value is displayed
at the end of discharge but can be recalled from the view menu.
This will allow stock motor users to select packs to give maximum performance.
Average 2 is recorded over the complete discharge cycle.

Well nothing stands still here!! We have now implemented some changes |
1. Charge current adjustable from 2 - 12 amps
2. Individual charge currents programmable for NiMh and NiCd
3. Individual delta fallback programmable for NiMh and NiCd
4. Data output Printer or CSV selectable
Charge current 2- 12 amps
The maximum charge current has been increased to 12 amps. However we have included safety features whereby if the programmed charge current is not obtainable or can not be maintained the current is stepped down automatically.
i.e. Pro-Trak has 255 steps between 2 amps and 12 amps, should the steps reach 250 the charge current is reduced by 0.5 amps automatically.
Should the user try to charge at 12 amps from a 7 amp power source then Pro-Trak will step the current down automatically until a maintainable current is reached.
Individual charge currents
Four individual charge currents can be programmed for NiMh and NiCd cells in both normal peak charge and repeak.
You can charge a pack of NiCds at 4.50 amps for the first charge then repeak at 6.50 amps without remembering to change the current setting.
Peak charge ( first
) Repeak
charge
NiCd = 4.50
amps
6.50 amps
NiMh = 5.00
amps
6.00 amps
Please note these are only examples and are not recommendations.
Individual delta fallback voltage
As with the above individual charge currents, the delta fallback for charge and repeak can now be individually programmed for NiMh and NiCd cells.
Peak charge ( first
) Repeak
charge
NiCd = 0.18
volts
0.24 volts
NiMh = 0.08
volts
0.12 volts
Please note these are only examples and are not recommendations.
Printer or CSV output
At the end of charge, discharge or cycle Pro-Trak can send data direct to a serial printer (not many around now) or it can now be configured to send the same data as a CSV file which can be read into a PC and then imported into a spreadsheet.
(Microsoft had a program called terminal .exe on old versions of Windows which can be used to read the CSV file into the PC)
Please note you will always be supplied the latest version.
